This is the second post in my three part series on the revival of the Coconut Grove waterfront. I started with a general update on the initial waterfront plan and the parks and public spaces in Part 1.  Today I will update you on some of the devlopments happening in  the private sector and how condos and retail are influencing the waterfront's revival. As I noted in the last post, The Coconut Grove Waterfront and Spoil Islands Master Plan called for an estimated 170 million [...]

Coconut Grove Waterfront Update – Part 1

Sometimes change goes unnoticed or we read news only of plans and don't see enough action for years. Such was the case with the Coconut Grove waterfront plan. The RFP initially was drafted in 2014, and released in 2005 for a master plan for the Grove waterfront. This led to the final plan presented and approved in 2008. Dubbed the "Coconut Grove Waterfront and Spoil Islands Master Plan" it was a comprehensive plan on on how to best improve the waterfront strategically and with vision [...]

Coconut Grove Named A Top US Neighborhood

Curbed wrapped up their annual Curbed Cup last week, sourcing feedback from passionate residents on the nation’s most beloved communities. An outpouring of love from community advocates helped elevate Coconut Grove to the top 5 on their list of 9. It’s not a surprise. Part of the support for this recognition came from Grove resident and police commander Manuel Morales who told Curbed that the Grove was the safest neighborhood in the City of Miami in 2015. We had the highest overall crime reduction and [...]

Market Trend Alert: Miami Woos Chinese Real Estate Enthusiasts

Bloomberg recently published an article noting a growing interest in courting Chinese real estate investors to Miami’s city limits. City leaders are working with Chinese developers who target Miami opportunities because of its clean beaches and tropical climate. According to the Miami Association of Realtors, Chinese have become one of the fastest-growing segments of foreign buyers. While Miami’s rebound from the financial crisis was driven by South Americans snapping up vacant condos, the city is now looking as far as Beijing to sustain the growth. [...]
