The City of South Miami may only encompass about 2 ½ miles, but it’s big on convenient amenities, indulgent luxuries, and lots of natural beauty. Besides hundreds of mature oaks trees providing lots of shade, there are many other pluses to living or working in South Miami real estate. Just three miles south of Downtown, the City of South Miami’s vibrant center is a shopping, dining and entertainment complex known as Sunset Place, and it also borders the University of Miami’s main campus, which gives this area a younger feel (even though the City of South Miami was incorporated back in 1927 which makes it one of the county’s oldest municipalities).
Two major hospitals provide employment and excellent services to the area as well. In 2001, The National Civic League named the City of South Miami an All-America City. This impressive award is bestowed on only ten cities in the United States each year. Recognition as an All-America City is the highest and most prestigious honor a city can receive. South Miami homes are great places to put down roots and grow, right along with the city itself. And the many historic buildings and leafy residential neighborhoods make it a very charming place to call home.
