Jill Penman’s Guide to Miami’s Best Beaches

Growing up in the NorthEast, Memorial Day weekend always signified the official start of summer, and that meant it was time to take to the beaches, boats, and lakes and enjoy the warmth of the sun.  Not that this official start of summer holds the same significance in my now home of Miami,  it’s still a great time to hit the beach and enjoy some fun under the sun with your family. There’s no better way to spend your Summer days than going to the beach and getting some much needed rest and relaxation while enjoying the ocean breeze. Spend some family-time in some of the finest beaches in the world in Miami, Florida.  From the Miami’s Northern beaches lined with luxury high rises all the way down to the Southern outpost beach in Homestead among the natural mangroves, there a variety of beach experiences to choose from.

NORTHERN DADE BEACHES

1) SUNNY ISLES BEACH
Sunny Isles Beach is a two-mile long white sand beach, with beautiful crystal clear waters making it popular for snorkeling, diving and other water sports. You can also try your luck fishing in Sunny Isles Beach’s classic pier, the Newport Fishing Pier.

2) OLETA RIVER STATE PARK BEACH
Oleta River State Park is Florida’s largest urban park. At the north end of the park there are large mangrove preserves that are native to the area and also other South Florida plants and wildlife. You can swim, canoe, or kayak around the beautiful crystal-clear waters or play and soak up some sun along the 1,200 foot white sand beach.
